TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION Three hundred fifty nine members gathered at Cape Cod Sea Camps in Brewster Massachusetts on Friday May 16, 2003 for a Clambake to celebrate the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of the founding of Nauset Newcomers. The Sea Camps dining hall was decorated with centerpieces featuring sand, rocks, sea shells and blue & silver balloons giving it a festive Cape Cod look. Fifteen of twenty-six presidents were represented (see photo ):
After a social hour from 5:00PM to 6:00PM, Mistress of Ceremonies Pat Eggers kicked off the evening’s festivities. George Dunn led the group in the singing of God Bless America. This was followed by remarks from Janet Carlson (2002/2003 President) and Tom Finan (25th Anniversary Committee). Janet presented Harold & Pat Harrison with a certificate recognizing them as the members present with the most seniority. She noted that over $50,000 has been donated to charities since 1995. Tom presented each president with a recognition certificate and a group photo was taken. He thanked all those involved in making the 25th Anniversary Celebration happen. The Cape Cod Sea Camps served a sumptuous menu consisting of clam chowder, steamers, mussels, lobster, steak, chicken, new potatoes, corn on the cob, cole slaw, linguica sausage, brownies and watermelon. After dinner Bob Bicknell covered the highlights of the
Newcomers Golf Tournament which had been held earlier in the day. Then the
Raffle Committee (Tom Reilly, Jean & Bill Kreykes and Mary Nardini) presented 25
door prizes worth over $2,000, which were donated by local firms.
