Biking on Nantucket - May 2005
On Tuesday May 10, 2005, thirty eight (38) Nauset Newcomers trekked to Nantucket for a bicycle adventure. The day started out cool but warmed up as the sun made an appearance. After lunch, the large group broke up into Group A ... the faster riders and Group B ... all the others. Our paths crossed at Madaket Beach. Both groups returned to the hotel in time to enjoy wine and cheese.
Wednesday started out with a lot of promise as the the sun was trying to break through the early morning clouds (we thought). That was the last that we would see of the sun that day. The weather got cooler as we biked to Siasconset and Sankaty Light. Immediately after having lunch, both groups decided that it was time to return to the hotel for "hot" showers. The group gathered inside for wine and cheese.
The group dined together at Arno's.
Most people elected to return on the 12:00 pm ferry on Thursday May 12. A few opted to take the fast ferry at 12:30 pm. Everyone reportedly had a good time.
