NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING
– September 18, 2004
Vice-President Randy Miller called the meeting to order at
9:50. He welcomed all attending and hoped that President Nancianne Kilpatrick,
who is presently ill, will be back with us next month. Randy introduced Joe
Borge, last year’s President, and Joe read a list of the charities that received
checks from Nauset Newcomers. Randy also asked that members use the suggestion
box in the hall, and said there is a volunteer handbook available in the outer
lobby.
Treasurer Ron Mador stated that the treasury is in great
shape with a balance of $9,881. as of August 31, 2004.
Committee Reports:
Group Activities: There are 43 group activities to choose
from, with 60+ volunteer coordinators. There is a need for group leaders for
several activities- fishing, canoeing, book discussion, photography, and word
games.
Social Events:
9/22 Kick-off Cocktail Party at Old Sea Pines Inn
10/20 Wash Ashore Cocktail Party at Captain Linnell House
for new members & officers
10/27 Salem trip
11/30 Newport trip
12/15 Christmas Dinner at Ocean Edge

Programs: Fun and informative long and short programs will
be presented each month. The long program for Oct. 13 will be given by the
Chatham Health Improvement Center. The subject will be “How to improve the
quality of your life and stay stronger longer.” The short program will be
Rhododendrons: “Varieties and how to grow ‘em.”
Membership: There are 245 members attending the meeting
today. As of Sept. 1, there are 743 paid members including 37 new members. A new
membership handbook will be available at the Oct. meeting. An activities
handbook will also be available.
Hospitality: The Hospitality committee thanked the board
for supplying refreshments at the meeting. Clipboards were circulated for
signing up for next month’s refreshments.
Raffle: The new Raffle committee was introduced. Members
were urged to trade or resubmit any prizes they will not use. To help with
publicity, it was suggested to mention Nauset Newcomers when you redeem a
certificate.
Webmaster Don Ouellette urged members to use our website
for a multitude of information, sign-ups, schedules, and a new puzzle page.

Dine Out: Each restaurant is offered for 3-4 nights, but
there is no reserved seating. The first outing this year will be Oct. 19, 20, &
21 at the Whitman House. Use the suggestion box for comments or suggestions.
There will be a golf outing at Chequessett on Oct. 14 with
dinner following at the Bookstore Restaurant. Send in your sign up sheet by Oct.
7.
The biking group announced that the memorial bench for
John Tighe will be north of Snows Hardware.
New Business: New hats are now for sale. All of the money
from the sale goes to charity. There are also a few shirts left from last year.
Chatham Nauset Lions Club gave a short address. They are a
community service and offer local scholarships. Consider joining the
organization.
The Nominating Committee, headed by Sara Robinson, is
looking for next year’s office holders. They will have a table near the door
with information.
The Raffle was held and everyone was urged to join in for
more refreshments and coffee.

NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING
– October 13, 2004
PRESIDENT Nancianne Kilpatrick called the meeting to order
at 9:33 AM and gave her thanks to the board for all of their help. She announced
that meetings are cancelled if Nauset Regional High School closes, or closures
are announced on CH4 WBZ, 99.9FM, or 107.5FM.
VICE PRESIDENT Randy Miller welcomed Nancianne back and
encouraged members to use the suggestion box in the lobby and be aware of the
volunteer handbook at the activities table.
TREASURER Ron Mador said the treasury is in good shape with
a balance of $12,993.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Hospitality: Debbie Owen sent her thanks for the great
refreshments and mentioned that clipboards are passed each month for volunteers
to make refreshments.
Membership: Mary Mador stated that the membership handbook
is now available. Please check your listing for accuracy and notify Nancy
Manning of errors. There are presently 889 paid members with 202 members
attending today’s meeting.
Group Activities:Bob McLuckie said there is a need for
coordinators for several groups and that a new day trippers group is forming.
The fishing group is being reformed and a new
leader is needed for the canoe group. The Dostels ski trip is being planned for
Jan. Besides downhill skiing and cross country
skiing, many like to just shop. There is a
choice of number of days to stay, and the ski area, Magic Mountain, if a member
of the 70+ club. The Bethel ski trip is also
being planned for Feb. 6-11, 2005. Besides offering an outdoor heated pool, the
Bethel Inn has cross country skiing and snow shoeing on location and downhill
skiing at nearby Sunday River.
Social Events: The Christmas in Newport is wait list only
The New England Flower Show is being planned for March 16.
A brunch and theater matinee is planned for Jan. 30.
Brunch at the Jailhouse and the play is The
Underpants at the Academy Theater. The cost is $35.00.
The Boston theater party will probably be a go.
More information in November.
The Ocean Edge Christmas Party is filling up. Sign up soon!
Programs: The Nov. Short Program will be a Toys for Tots
pitch and a short chat about Companion Animals “Therapy Animals Make a Patient’s
Day”. The Long Program will be Paul Mauro speaking on Legacy Financial Advisors.
Dine Out: The next Dine Out is at the Old Yarmouth Inn on
Nov. 16, 17, and 18. The cost is $35. per person. Sign up ASAP.
Nominating Committee: Sara Robinson has made sign up sheets
available if you are interested in serving on the board for the 2005-2006
season.
Nancianne gave her thanks to all involved in selling the
new Nauset Newcomers hats.
The Short Program was of rhododendrons given by Connie
LeClair. We saw plants that ranged in size from tiny to huge. Consider joining
the Cape Cod chapter of the American Rhododendron Society.
Following a fifteen minute intermission, the raffle was
held and the Long Program began. Carol Penfield from the Chatham Health
Improvement Center gave us wonderful information on how to improve the quality
of our lives and stay stronger longer. Her suggestions ran from no smoking and
limiting alcohol intake to eliminating stress and exercising regularly.
At 11:43 there was a motion to adjourn.

NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING
– November 10, 2004
PRESIDENT Nancianne Kilpatrick started the meeting at 9:35
a.m. She immediately introduced the Marines who explained the Toys
For Tots
program. Toys For Tots was started in 1947, and has distributed 400
million toys to 150 million children over the years, including 4,300 Cape Cod
children last year. They request new, unwrapped toys and hope all will
contribute at the Dec. meeting.
Nancianne also expressed her thanks for successful outings
and parties last month.
VICE PRESIDENT Randy Miller said the suggestion box dilemma
(no paper) has been solved and encouraged everyone to be aware of the volunteer
opportunities book on the outer table.
TREASURER: Ron Mador stated that the treasury has a current
balance of $14,472.
COMMITTEE REPORTS;
Hospitality: Debbie Owen explained the clipboard process for signing up for
refreshments and thanked everyone for their support.
Membership. There are 212 people attending today’s meeting.
After introducing new members, Mary Mador stated that the organization currently
has 945 paid members.
Group Activities: Bob McLuckie informed the members that
Bill Diselles died on October 1. He also announced that the following groups
have suspended their activities: Motorcycling, Golf, Kayak, Gallery Hopping.
Astronomy will not meet in December. Tai Chi, Yoga and a Course in Meditation
will not meet in Nov. and Dec. Gardening group will meet at the Snow Library on
Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. He also indicated that Brisk Walking and Mah Jongg will be
added to the activities list in the future. Tom Finan reminded those interested
in the Bethel ski trip to call the Bethel Inn for reservations. Jack Child
reminded those interested in the Jan. Vermont trip to Dostals to sign up asap.
He also mentioned that it is a great shopping and museum area if you do not ski.
Social Events: Christmas in Newport is full. There are
still a few openings for the Christmas party at Ocean Edge. The Jan. brunch is
filling and has a Dec. 15 deadline. The April Boston trip has had a good
response and also has a Dec. 15 deadline. The February Fling dance is Feb. 23
from 7-11 for $28. per person with a cash bar.
DINE OUT: The Whitman House outing was a success. There are
still a few openings for the Old Yarmouth Inn. The Jan. outing will be at
L’Alouette on the 18th, 19th, and 20th. Feb. is a luncheon at the Muse and
March is dinner at 902 Main Street.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Sara Robinson has made sign up sheets
if you are interested in serving on the 2005-2006 board. You must be nominated
within three years of membership and serve by the 4th year.
SHORT PROGRAM: Debby Cobb and her dog Rufus explained the
Companion Animal Program. We were entertained by numerous dogs and a very quiet
cat.
RAFFLE: Following a short intermission, the raffle was
held. Everyone was reminded that all proceeds go to lower Cape charities.
LONG PROGRAM: The long program was a talk by Paul Mauro
from Legacy Financial Advisors about maintaining financial independence.

NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING –
December 8, 2004
PRESIDENT Nancianne Kilpatrick opened the meeting at 9:35
and mentioned that if Nauset High School is cancelled for snow, so is the
Newcomers meeting. This is noted on the radio and TV. Then she introduced Neil
Buchanan of the USMC who thanked everyone for participating in the Toys for Tots
program.
VICE PRESIDENT Randy Miller announced that the movies start next month. The
theater will run movies following the Newcomers meeting if they have 30
participants. He also mentioned that the sign up table has a list of volunteers
needed.
TREASURER Ron Mador said that the treasury has a balance of $20,143. as of
11/30/04.
COMMITTEE REPORTS;
Social Events: The Christmas party has ten seats left. The Feb. 23 dance will
run from 7-11 and cost $28. per person. Freddy and the Maybellines will play.
The dance will be at the Eastham Elks Club on McKoy road. The Jan. 30 brunch at
the Jailhouse followed by the play “Underpants”
still has a few spaces. The cost is $35. The April 27 Boston trip to “Phantom of
the Opera” has 16 spaces and the cost is $85.
Hospitality: The committee sends its thanks for all the festive refreshments and
reminded everyone about passing the sign up sheets among the audience.
Membership: There are presently 948 paid members, and 210 attended today’s
meeting.
Group Activities: Kathy Grizzle introduced the Nauset Singles, which is a group
of single people who are NN members who occasionally dine out together or go to
social events. She announced that there is a sign up clipboard on the lobby
table. Bob McLuckie noted that the Cape Codder
and the Cape Cod Times have mentioned the Kayaking Group and the Walking Group
in some of their recent articles. He also
mentioned the possibility of starting a bowling group at the Orleans Bowling
Center and suggested any interested in forming a group sign up on the
“Interested in starting a new group” clipboard. The
Hiking Group has ended until spring. Barbara Cosgrove reminds us that the Nurses
Group is looking for new members. Mah Jongg for Beginners is filled as is Day
Trippers. The Garden Group will not meet for the next three months, and Dog
Walking, Guided Meditation, Motorcycling and Kayaking are suspended
until spring. Rich Dill said a new sign up sheet is available for a NN Volunteer
Team and a profile sheet is also available on the lobby table. Jack Child is
still encouraging people to sign up for the Dostal ski
(and shopping) trip; Tom Finan said reservations can be made directly
with the Bethel Inn for that trip.
Nominating Committee: Sara Robinson said the committee is doing quite well, but
they still need more volunteers for several different board positions.
DINE OUT: Pat Eggers said the Old Yarmouth Inn outing was great.
L’Alouette on Jan. 18, 19, & 20 is planned for
next month. The Muse will be the February trip (try to carpool due to parking),
March is 902 Main Street in Yarmouth on Rt. 28, and April will be Pates.
SHORT PROGRAM: A representative from Habitat for Humanity gave a short talk.
This is a worthwhile non-profit organization that needs people’s time and money.
RAFFLE: Following a short intermission the raffle was held.
LONG PROGRAM: The Nauset High School chorus presented an absolutely enjoyable
Christmas performance. We all send our thanks. They have the honor of being
invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in the New Year.

NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING –
January 12, 2005
President Nancianne Kilpatrick called the meeting to order at 9:34 A.M.
Nancianne reviewed the procedures for fire exits and cancellations in the
event of snow. She also informed members of the recent deaths of Susan Hatch and
Ellie Bair.
Vice-President Randy Miller reminded members of the Suggestion Box in the lobby.
The annual winter offering of a movie and hot dog lunch begins at the end of the
meeting today.
Treasurer Ron Mador reported a 31 December balance of $17653.
Nancianne announced that copies of the minutes from the December general meeting
are available in the lobby.
Number of members attending today is 178.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Social Events: Dick Hall reminded members to sign up for the dance at the
Eastham Elks on February 23. Lyn Carlson provided information on the theater
trip to see Phantom of the Opera in Boston on April 27; there are about six
tickets left. Dawn Monkiewicz announced a trip to the
Boston Flower Show on March 16; flyers are available in the lobby.
Hospitality: Debbie Owen thanked members who brought food today and circulated
the sign-up boards for the next meeting.
Membership: Mary Mador announced that the membership list supplement is
available at the Membership table in the lobby. Also available are coupons for
an 8-week free sampler of the Cape Codder. There are currently 974 paid members.
New members were then introduced to the audience.
Group Activities: Bob McLuckie announced that Tai Chi has been suspended for the
remainder of the year. Photography needs a leader. George Dunn is leading a
cribbage group. The Dine-out Singles has been renamed Singles Group Activities.
Brenda Strout will lead the Walking Group for the next five weeks. Recently
formed groups include a reading group on Carl Jung, Chess, Women’s evening
bridge and Coed volley ball. A few more men are needed for a second Men’s poker
group. Tom Finan said there are still spots for the ski trip to Bethel which
starts on February 6. Jack Child reminded members of the January 16 trip to
Dostel.
Dine Out: George Dunn reported that the event at L’Alouette next week is sold
out. There is still room for the luncheon at the Mews on February 15, 16, 17.
The March dine-out will be at a new site, 902 Main in South Yarmouth; fee will
be $40 per person. Flyers will be available at the next general meeting for the
April dinner at Pate’s. George then asked if any members would be interested in
a wine tasting on one of the evenings at Academy Ocean Grille in May. Cost for
the dinner evenings would be $35 and for the wine dinner, $75. Audience response
was positive, so the committee will follow through on those arrangements.
Nominating Committee: Sara Robinson reminded members that there are still
openings for positions on next year’s board. Evie Tighe encouraged members to
volunteer for the social committee. Robbie Robinson spoke about the experience
of being on the Raffle Committee.
Evie Tighe thanked the membership for providing the bike trail bench in memory
of her husband, John Tighe.
A representative of Habitat for Humanity announced that there is a table
in the lobby with applications for volunteers.
Richard Dill reported that the new Nauset Newcomers Volunteer Team has begun its
work. In December seventeen volunteers gave fifty hours, mostly to Lower Cape
Outreach through gift wrapping at Border’s. More than $1000 was raised by that
action. The next activity will be building blue bird nesting boxes for Wellfleet
Bay Audubon Sanctuary. Most of the projects by this group will be one-time
events, so long-term commitments are not necessary.
Susan Dutcher introduced Jacquie Scarborough who spoke on the WE CAN program for
Cape women in transition.
There was a fifteen-minute intermission.
The raffle was held led by Jessica Dill.
Judy Colbert announced an upcoming Singles Group luncheon at Sparkfish.
The program “Living the Life You Really Want” was presented by Cape Cod
resident and author Joan Anderson.
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the December minutes.

NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING –
February 9, 2005
PRESIDENT Nancianne Kilpatrick brought the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m.,
and after reminding everyone of the radio stations to listen to in case of snow,
she turned the meeting over to the VP.
VICE PRESIDENT Randy Miller reminded everyone to use the suggestion box in the
lobby, and also reminded everyone that there would be four movies shown at the
theater today.
TREASURER Ron Mador left a note stating the treasury balance is $13,8867 as he
traveled to Florida on vacation.
COMMITTEES:
Social Events: The March Boston Flower Show Trip still has a few openings. The
February Fling at the Eastham Elks on Feb. 23rd from 7-11 p.m.
still has openings. It will have a cash bar.
Hospitality: The committee sends their thanks for all the great “goodies” that
people have donated. The sign-up sheets are being sent around again this month.
Membership: Although the club now has 982 paid members, today’s attendance was
only 156.
Group Activities: Bob McLuckie reminded everyone that when you sign up for a
group, you need to support and participate in that group. He also indicated that
Canoeing, Current Events, and Photography need an organizer. The Bethel Ski
Group are presently enjoying their outing. The Dostals
Ski Trip may make some changes for next year. The need to find a new inn for
next year is being considered, with an eye on the Echo Lake Inn. Next year’s
trip may also be later next year in order to have better weather.
Nominating Committee: The slate for next year is almost completed. For those on
the slate, pictures are being taken. Past president George Dunn spoke to the
group and mentioned what a positive experience it had been for him. Jan Carlson,
again a past president, stated that NN is a great place to meet people and to
get to know your community.
DINE OUT: The trip to The Mews next week is sold out. The March trip to 902 Main
St., S. Yarmouth still has a few spots left. The April trip is to Pates on April
19, 20, & 21. A survey is being taken on
interest in a wine tasting dinner at the Academy Grill in May, costing $75.. per
person.
SHORT PROGRAM: Sandy Bayne gave a short talk on testing of pond water on Cape
Cod. Pond water quality is declining, and the water testing programs need
funding and participation.
Following a short intermission, the Raffle was held.
LONG PROGRAM: Robert Tucker from Focal Point Photography gave a talk on how to
improve your photos. A couple of his suggestions were to choose your background
carefully and to be aware of the time of day and the weather conditions when
making photos.

NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING –
March 9, 2005
VICE PRESIDENT Randy Miller began the meeting at 9:30. After informing all where
the fire exits are located and that in case of snow to watch for Nauset Regional
School to be closed which would cancel the NN meeting, he went on to say that
Nancianne Kilpatrick was ill and could not make the meeting. Although it is too
soon for visits, she would love cards at the following address:

Randy also reminded everyone of the volunteer handbook in the lobby and
requested that all suggestions placed in the suggestion box be signed.
TREASURER Ron Mador stated that the treasury as of 2/28/05 had $18,712.in it,
but outstanding bills will bring that balance down to $14,342 soon.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
SOCIAL EVENTS: The Boston Flower Show on March 16 still has a few openings, and
the April 27 trip to “Phantom of the Opera” has four openings; once these have
been filled, a waiting list will be generated. The Boston Pops trip will be on
May 26. Sign up now!
HOSPITALITY: Debbie Owen thanked those who brought food and again explained the
clipboard system for “goodie” sign-ups. She also passed around get well cards to
be forwarded to Nancianne.
MEMBERSHIP: There are currently 993 paid members. Due to the bad weather and
vacations, only 126 attended today’s meeting.
GROUP ACTIVITIES: Bob McLuckie stated that Judy Keller is forming a new group
named “The Bronx Group” that will start in the fall. It is for people who were
born, grew up, or have lived in the Bronx. The Chamber Music activity , Current
Events, and Canoeing are being removed from the clipboards due to lack of
interest. Perhaps someone will come forward in September to reestablish these
activities. A new Book Discussion is being formed with Eileen Bergquist as
coordinator. The Garden Group will meet on March 16th at 2 p.m. at the Brewster
Ladies Library to discuss pruning. Debbie Owen would be willing to hold an
organizational meeting
for the Photography activity to see how the group wants to proceed. She will
contact those who have signed up. Finally, the Old Timers Softball League is
looking for players. You must be born before 1948. Contact Dick Carroll

DINE OUT: The Dine Out at 902 Main Street has a few openings for the March 16
meal; otherwise, March is filled. The April Dine Out
will be at Pate’s on the 19th, 20th, and 21st. The May Dine Out will be at the
Academy Ocean Grill on the 17th, 18th, and 19th. Since there is the possibility
of a wine tasting one of those evenings, NN is seeking an indication of interest
from those applying for the dinner.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: VP Randy Miller stated that the slate for next year is
complete, but the committee is still taking applications in case they are
necessary.
The Short Program was given by Larry Marsland of the Lower Cape Outreach
Council. The council serves nine food pantries, a free store, and gives
financial assistance to some. It needs donations of money and volunteer help.
The Raffle was held after a short intermission, and then we were entertained by
Norman Peyne who serenaded us with lovely Irish music and marvelous humor.

April 13, 2005
VICE PRESIDENT Randy Miller brought the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m., and fter
reminding all where the exits are and the snow policy, he mentioned that
resident Nancianne Kilpatrick is doing better and will hopefully be able to join
in on some of the ending festivities. Randy reminded everyone to use the
suggestion ox in the lobby and that NN could still use a few volunteers. Check
the volunteer andbook. He also sent his thanks for supporting the movies this
year. Also shirts and hats are still available.
TREASURER Ron Mador stated that the balance as of 3/31/05 was $18,554., with
$4,200 in outstanding commitments, leaving an actual balance of $14,354.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
SOCIAL EVENTS: There are four tickets left for the Phantom of the Opera trip on
April 27. The cost is $85.The May Boston Pops trip to hear Hooray for
Hollywood still has tickets left. Since a commitment
must be made shortly, please get you sign-up sheets in ASAP!
HOSPITALITY: Debbie Owen thanked all those participating in this month’s
refreshments. Everyone raved about the almond bars and it was decided to include
the recipe on the NN web site. Debbie pointed out the we still have one more
month for volunteer “goodies”.

Bill Wheeler would like to meet with everyone who has signed up for the Fishing
Group Activity. Meet with him at the break by the clipboard table.
Chris Kenny and Orin Segal from Golf Group Activity are planning a fun
golf event @ the Captain's Course on Tuesday May 24th. There is a flier with all
information & sign up details at the table. John Fallender and Barry Worth
announce that the 2005 Biking season will begin on April 19th. The Ride Schedule
will be available at the Biking clipboard activity sheet, on the Nauset
Newcomers Website and by e-mail. Scheduled rides will be every Tuesday morning
through December. Stan Brady activated the Motorcycling Group Activity. We are
still looking for a leader for Canoeing Activity and Current Events Debbie Owen
has volunteered to help organize the Photography Group Activity. She will have
an organizational meeting on Monday, April 18th, at 7p.m. at her home home. If
you have not already signed up for this group and are interested in doing so,
please be sure to sign-up on the photography activity board at the break and
Debbie will be in touch with you about the meeting.
Sharon Cobb will lead a new Activity called Jig Saw Puzzle Group Activity called
Puzzling Explorations. Check out her clipboard for further information.
Tom Reilly reminds us that:
* Kayaking season is beginning with 5 trips scheduled for this Spring,
* the first is on Thursday, April 21st with a trip on Cliff and Lower Cliff
Ponds in Brewster.
* Rain/wind date is Friday, the 22nd.
* Go to the NN web site for the rest of the schedule,
* also on our clipboard are some trip sign-up sheets you can use if you do not
have internet access.
* Because we have so many members (about 90) we need you to sign up beforehand
for each trip so we know how many and who to expect. Marge Magetteri of the
Gardening Group Activity wants us to keep in mind that there will be a plant
sale at the May General Meeting so put aside some plants to donate to the sale
as you clean up your garden. You may buy plants before and after the General
Meeting in May. She is looking for someone to coordinate this group in 2005-06.

The ski trip to the Bethel Inn in Maine will be 2/05/06
to 2/10/06. The Vermont trip will be 2/26/06 to 3/2/06
in hopes of having warmer weather. The new location for this trip will be the
Landgrove Inn which is near Bromley, Okemo and Manchester. It has good meals and
a wonderful gathering room.
WEBMASTER Don Ouellette announced that the new board
will be on the website
www.nausetnewcomers.org.
DINE OUT:The April Dine Out is at Pates on 4/19, 4/20 and 4/21. The May outing
is at the Academy Ocean Grill in Orleans. On 5/17 there will be a wine dinner
for $60 (blue flyer) and on 5/18 and 5/19 there will be a regular dinner for
$35.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: The full slate for next year was introduced with the
election being next month. The committee is still taking applications in case of
vacancies. More information on the slate can be found on the web site.
A few general announcements were made. Richard Dill announced the Habitat for
Humanity needs assistance on 5/3. Sign up on a volunteer shet and you will be
notified of the details. In June an art show will need volunteers- more info
coming. Also present at this month’s meeting are representatives from the
Orleans Cardinals baseball team. They also need volunteers.
Short Program: Judy Kennedy, director of volunteers for the Cape Cod Hospital
Volunteers gave a short talk on aspects of hospital care.
Raffle: The raffle was held after a short intermission.
Long Program: Peg and Carl Rasmussen spoke on the Lewis and Clark expedition,
having followed the same path (by bus) through the Elderhostel program.

NAUSET NEWCOMERS GENERAL MEETING –
May 11, 2005
VICE PRESIDENT Randy Miller called the meeting to order at
9:30 a.m. and after identifying the appropriate exits in an emergency, he stated
that although President Nancianne Kilkpatrick is improving, she is still unable
to attend the meetings. He also pointed out the there were no suggestions in the
suggestion box this month. The Hat/Shirt sales for the 2004-2005 season have
totaled $1,086.
TREASURER Ron Mador stated that as of 4/30/05 the balance was $14,686.
The insurance bill still needs to be paid. Last year NN had $7,900. to
distribute to local charities. This year we will have the same amount, or a
little more.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
SOCIAL EVENTS: To participate in the trip to the Pops, you must now get on a
waiting list.
HOSPITALITY: Thanks were given to all who donated “goodies” this year. In Sept.
the refreshments will be supplied by the old and new board, and then the clip
boards will be passed for the Oct. meeting.
MEMBERSHIP: There are now 1013 members, with 153 attending this meeting. GROUP
ACTIVITIES: The Photography Club, concentrating on digital photography, will
meet once a month. The next meeting will be May 24, at 7 p.m. at the home of
Gini Tursi. The next Bethel Ski Trip will be Feb. 5 thru Feb. 10, 2006. The
“Bronx” group will have its first meeting in Sept. At the most recent general
meeting the Garden group had their plant sale. The board voted to discontinue
the Fishing, Current Events and Canoeing groups due to lack of leadership. The
golf event will be held on 5/24 at Captains Golf Course. Get your forms in by
5/17. A 9 Hole Scramble followed by dinner at Sparksfish is $50 per person ($35.
for Captains members) or $25. for dinner only. Bob and Sandy McLuckie have
checked with group leaders to be sure they will continue. Most will continue or
have chosen a group member to take over. They still need new leaders for Bridge,
Women’s Afternoon; Bridge, Women’s 2 Table; Ramblin’ Roses.
DINE OUT: George Dunn announced the last call for dinner at the Academy Grill.
George, after six years, is retiring from the board and encouraged all to sign
up for board positions.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Richard Dill announced the following opportunities:
May 3- 12 volunteers worked for Habitat for Humanity.
May 24 - Crosby Mansion in Brewster needs gardeners.
June 12 - Crosby Mansion is having an ART IN JUNE
benefit which benefits the Lower Cape Outreach Council. They need set-up,
clean-up and food assistance. If interested, see the sign up sheets in the lobby
or contact Richard by e-mail.
Lower Cape Outreach also need help distributing collection canisters for SUMMER
OF HOPE.
Museum of Natural History needs help with construction of a habitat for jelly
fish.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Joe Borge introduced the new board. There was a
motion to elect that was 2nd’ed. All approved the new board.
PROGRAMS: Peter Earle from the Academy Playhouse provided the day’s long
program. There was a short intermission, the
RAFFLE was held, and then we were entertained by wonderful show tunes sung by
Peter Earle and associates. The Academy Playhouse is presenting Amadeus for
three days over the Memorial weekend.
